Up early to head to Ellis Island on the ferry, freezing cold queueing rewarded by Manhattan skylines. Fascinated by history and sad for the empty sky where the Twin Towers were. Out in the evening to the top of the Rockerfeller building, incredible views and the pretty city at night. Cocktails two floors down with New York by night in the background. Morrells wine bar. The Modern for dinner and lovely lovely food sweetened by the rarity of the experience. Hugely grateful for overly generous friends. The best way to end the week.
